We are a church that affirms that the members of the church are the ministers.  We encourage everyone to worship in thanksgiving, grow spiritually, discover their gifts for ministry, and to find places to be in ministry in their homes, jobs, community, and recreational lives as well as addressing specific needs.
 
 

Pastor Lura Kidner-Miesen

Hello!  I am Lura Kidner-Miesen, pastor of the Stayton United Methodist Church.  I enjoy living in Stayton and am excited about being part of a friendly, active, growing congregation.  I have almost 30 years experience being a pastor and I believe it is important for me to take the time to understand you and our congregation in order to provide good pastoral care and leadership.

My parents are from the Black Hills of South Dakota.  We moved to Idaho when I was an infant.  I graduated from Boise State University and taught English for a year.  My husband and I married and I entered seminary.
After Graduating from the Iliff School of Theology in Denver, I served for two years as the associate minister at Trinity United Methodist Church in Idaho Falls.  I then served six years as the pastor of the United Methodist Church in Castleford, a small farming community in southern Idaho.  After that I served for seven years as the pastor of the United Methodist Church in Middleton, a small town near Boise.  I completed five years at the United Methodist Church in Baker City in northeastern Oregon.  I came to Stayton in 2003.  In addition to my work as a pastor, I especially enjoy being with my family, reading, and walking.
My husband Neal Miesen, is from Nampa, Idaho and attended Boise State University and University of Idaho.  He served in the army three years and is now retired from the Army Reserves.  He was a social studies teacher for several years.
We have two children.  Our daughter, Anna, is married and our son, Patrick, is attending college.  We look forward to meeting you soon.  May God bless us in the years ahead as we work together for Christ, the Church and our spiritual community.
 
 

Services

Holy Communion is open to all who seek to follow Jesus Christ, regardless of church membership and is the first Sunday of each month. All are welcome to participate.
Worship every Sunday at 10 a.m.

            Christmas Eve service

*Please note:

Our Nursery is available and staffed with church volunteers from 9:45 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.  The children are brought into the service for the children's sermon.
 

Fellowships

Fellowship is an essential part of the spiritual and personal growth of our congregation.  Every Sunday morning, following our worship service, we meet for an informal time of coffee, tea, juice and snacks.  This provides us with a time for discussion and community.
