Indications for Consultation
 
Patients’ self-images and emotional attitudes can affect their surgical outcomes, as well as their satisfaction with the results of their treatment.
 
As a physician, have you ever wondered if some of your patients would have a better outcome if they had assistance with the emotional aspects of the changes they were going through under your care? 
 
As a patient, is there something concerning your feelings or experiences that you have not been able to address, or to name to yourself and/or your doctor?
 
For example, to the best of your knowledge are any of the following present that could benefit from therapeutic attention?
 
·    Ambivalence or conflict about doing the procedure
·    Conflict or disagreement from family or   others
·    Poor self-image or self-esteem
·    History of physical or emotional abuse

About the Service Provider
 
Gregory J. Johanson, Ph.D. is Director of Hakomi Educational Resources in Chicago, IL, providing services in psychotherapy, teaching, training, writing, editing, ministry, and organizational consultation. He has over thirty years of clinical experience in mental health clinic, hospital, school, church, and private practice settings.  In addition to training in a broad range of counseling methods, he is a founding trainer of the Hakomi Method of mind/body experiential psychotherapy, and a trainer in Internal Family Systems Therapy. 
 
His background is in therapy (LPC, New Jersey 37PC00120500) and theology (AAPC Member 6964).  He serves as adjunct faculty in the Graduate Schools of Loyola and Northeastern Illinois Universities. and Columbia College, as well as Research Faculty at the Santa Barbara Graduate Institute. He serves on the Board of Directors of the United States Association for Body Psychotherapy.  as well as on the editorial committees of six professional journals.  He is a Fellow of the American Psychotherapy Association, and American Association of Integrative Medicine, and a Diplomate of the AAIM’s College of Pastoral Counselors.
